Description

The DEMO Project contemplates the elimination of plastic waste through its recovery, developing a consolidated, circular and environmentally neutral bioprocess, to synthesize value-added microbial oils for subsequent transformation into biopolymers and biofuels. The Project is in line with the EU's objectives based on a bioeconomy that leads to its climate neutrality in 2050, and with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Project will address, based on previous results, the enzymatic depolymerization and biotransformation of two recalcitrant plastic polyesters, one derived from petroleum (PET) and the other biologically based (PEF)
