On October 7, 2022, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation announced the results of the 2021 Call for Projects oriented to the Ecological and Digital Transition, framed in the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. The Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research (CIB-CSIC) leads 11 of these projects, which have been financed with 2.2 million euros and will be developed over the next two years.
This new call for strategic projects of the State Research Agency focuses on research around the ecological transition to contribute to the environmental objectives set out in Regulation (EU) 2020/852, with topics such as improving the resilience of agricultural crops and forest ecosystems, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, decarbonization, ecological restoration or circular economy, among others.
The CIB Margarita Salas, true to its commitment to Biology for Global Well-being, will address different aspects of these topics in projects led by researchers from the departments of Microbial and Plant Biotechnology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, and Structural and Chemical Biology.
