Vanesa Nozal, member of the Translational Medicinal and Biological Chemistry group, Victor Sebastián, a former doctoral student in this group, and Javier García, a postdoctoral researcher at the Computational Chemical Biology Group, have been awarded by the Spanish Society of Medicinal Chemistry (SEQT) in the XX Awards for Young Researchers in the field of drug discovery and development.
This call, promoted by the SEQT together with the companies Almirall, Enantia, GalChimia, Janssen-Cilag, Lilly, and Menarini, awards young pre- or post-doctoral researchers who have authored unpublished scientific articles with a free topic. The prizes, awarded with 2.000 euros, will be delivered at the SEQT XX National Meeting that will take place in Santiago de Compostela from 23 to 26 of January, where the works will be presented.
Vanesa Nozal has won the ALMIRALL S.A prize for her work called “Isoform selective tau tubuline kinase 1 inhibitors reduce TDP43 hyperphosphorylation and ameliorate ALS pathology”. Javier García has been awarded with the JANSSEN-CILAG prize for his work called “Estudio para la modulación de la señalización no quinasa de la proteína ILK a través de su interacción con α-parvina: una nueva oportunidad en el tratamiento de la enfermedad renal”, developed during his PhD at the UAH. Finally, Víctor Sebastián has won the MENARINI prize with his research “Computational-guided discovery of a novel series of Leishmania GSK-3 inhibitors with antileishmanial activity: design, synthesis and biological evaluation”, conducted during his doctoral period at the CIB Margarita Salas.
