Description

This initiative is included in the Green Energy and Hydrogen Program (PLATFORM OF ENERGY CSIC), which aims to make a qualitative and quantitative leap in the capacity of the CSIC in the development of environmentally sustainable energy production technologies, in response to the need for our country to be able to have the technological capacity to produce renewable and sustainable biofuels for maritime and air transport.
CIB-MS participates in LIA 5: Generation of biofuels from H2 and CO2, in which two biorefineries will be built, one from lignocellulosic waste and the other from oil residues, to achieve, at a pre- pilot plant (TRL 6-7), the production of biofuels for maritime and/or aviation transport. For this, different units have been designed, in order to be able to supply a sufficient amount of biofuel (of the order of 500 L of ethanol), which allows the required quality and performance tests and trials to be carried out. In this Line of Action, with different CSIC centers involved (ICP, CIB-MS, ITQ, ICB), the aim is to achieve a sustainable fuel production model, using all the components of this waste within the framework of the circular economy
The funding obtained belongs to the Mechanism for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience (NextGerenratio EU), Component 17 (Complementary Plans of the Autonomous Communities).
