
Last Wednesday, December 1, the IX FEI Awards Ceremony, given by the Forum of Innovative Companies (FEI), took place at the CaixaForum in Madrid. Vicente Larraga, researcher at the Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research (CIB-CSIC), received the award to the Innovative Researcher of the Year 2021. This award is shared between the researchers Mariano Esteban and Luis Enjuanes, both belonging to the National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC), and recognizes the efforts of these three research groups in their projects for the development of a Spanish vaccine against COVID-19.
At the same event, awards were presented in the category "Organization / Institution Supporting Innovation 2021" to ENISA (National Innovation Company), and MARINE INSTRUMENTS S.A. received the recognition of the "Innovative Company 2021". In addition, the document "Technological Sovereignty: definition, dilemmas, and recommendations for Spain" was presented.
FEI is a non-profit association with the aim of promoting an innovative culture in companies, universities, and public administrations. The act was chaired by Dª. Teresa Riesgo Alcaide, General Secretary for Innovation, and Mr. Luis Fernando Álvarez-Gascón, President of the Forum of Innovative Companies. The ceremony was closed by Mr. José Manuel Pingarrón Carrazón, Secretary-General of Universities, and Ms. Silvia Lazcano Urueña, Vice President of the Forum of Innovative Companies.
